In reply to: Media Button Not WorkingI have the same problem. My “Media” button and my “Edit [for the URL]” button don’t work.
Does it give you an error message? Or does it just … you click the button and nothing happens?
I have the same problems, on 2 websites. No plugin in common, diferent Theme installed, same host. But on the same host, i have another 3 websites and they have no problem. All was happened after the update from 21.06.2016
Well, let me know if you figure it out, because mine still has the problem.
I’ve deactivated all plug-ins and it hasn’t helped. From what I read, it may be a JavaScript problem (though I know little about coding or networking, so this could be wrong?). I’m able to post, but without being able to add media, switch to HTML view, or edit URLs, I’m definitely in trouble long-term.
Sorry, last question, and I will leave you be:
is there any way to go BACK to an earlier version of WordPress? Can I (for instance) download, install, and run 4.5.2? Or are the scripts that let me download and install 4.5.2 killed once 4.5.3 is introduced?
thanks
I will try that; however, the same problem seems to be happening on Chrome, IE (which I don’t usually use, but tried for this), and even my mobile’s Android operating system browser.
It appears (I’m learning all this for the first time) that my “wp-config.php” files are not accessible vie my ordinary WP Dashboard. Correct? Or am I missing them?
They are described, in one of your links, as my “root” files. Are these on file with my host, or whatever? Is there any way I can edit them from inside my own site/account (assuming I am logged in to both WP and to my own site’s admin acct)?
I do appreciate this, dealing with code / network illiterates must be exhausting.
Gaaaa. OK. I very much appreciate your help and your hard work, but those words mean nothing to me.
I think I’m going to hide under some coats and hope that, somehow, everything turns out OK.
Have a good evening.
No, tried with new theme and all plug-ins deactivated, same problem.
Is there any chance it’s on the server end? Seems unlikely that the server’s interaction with my WP-platformed site would allow me to log in, create posts, enter text, but not (say) toggle between Visual and Text. But I guess it’s possible?
Excellent, thanks for your help. I’ll try.

In reply to: Can't log in … hacked?OK. Thanks for your help.
I don’t know whether I have backed-up versions of all my old stuff. I doubt I do, so the thought of starting from scratch is sort of terrifying. The weird thing is, the public/front-page version of my site (the one that any stranger would see) looks just the same. IE, why would someone hack the site just to keep me out, but to not do anything/change anything?
It’s certainly possible it started locally on my PC, I know little about computers. Is there an AV software/program you’d recommend? Esp. one that can scan and neutralize already-active viruses or worms?
thanks again, I appreciate it.
