@ssaguner – Which Lightbox Effect are you referring to? The default is Fancybox as found under Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects.
Also, a URL to a page/post where you have inserted a display could be helpful.
Thanks!

@learner2017 – Please share one of the shortcodes for the inserted displays that are showing “all” images, there may be something in how you are creating these displays which might show in the shortcode.
Thanks!

@thanzex – Yes, that is the idea … although I’m not certain what you are referring to with “when adding it the page does not change, any ideas?”
Thanks!

@mackensen – Thanks for bringing this to our attention, we are not aware of this particular problem and have not seen any other reports of this issue.
I’ll write it up for our developers to review further although your “work-around” may be the most suitable solution for the time being.
Thanks!

@thibay – There will be an adjustment to our code in the next release of NextGEN Gallery that should accomplish correcting this problem.
Thanks!

@lucasprogamer – What specifically are you referencing with “a new album template”? Are you referring to a new display type or just a new template for the Compact (or Extended) album display to use?
Thanks!

@hood1973 – Although the NextGEN Legacy shortcode you are using should work I would suggest looking into your theme (or another active plugin) to insure that your site’s Text Widgets can properly parse shortcodes when used in them (which is not specifically related to WordPress 4.7.5).
Thanks!

@gpsleo – Has there been any changes to your local environment that might be affecting paths? As it is, you can use the default which would be more simply stated as:
template="gallery-caption.php"…or, you can try using the Reset Option to force NextGEN Gallery back to its installation defaults which may change the path to something more appropriate matching your local environment.
Thanks!

@aberdeeninvestment – What setting are you using for the Lightbox Effects under Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects that relates to what images to use the NextGEN Gallery Lightbox with?
I would suggest, if it is not set to NextGEN Gallery images only, to revert the option back to that default.
Thanks!

@tbogardus – The script in question may be creating a potential security hole in your site and as such I do not feel comfortable noting it within these public forums. I would suggest looking at the browser console of your site and then you should be able to identify the code base where the issue appears to be coming from, that is also the reference to the “script”.
Thanks!

@seanmanion – As the issue appears to be within the child-theme I would recommend troubleshooting through it. As I have no information on the child-theme’s code I cannot say what or where any snippet could be inserted to suggest why it is breaking.
Although on further review, it could be a conflict within the inserted display and what settings you may be using there. It appears you are using an album display which in turn uses the Basic Thumbnails display type and the problem occurs when you switch to the Slideshow view (which is often due to a JavaScript issue creating a conflict); are you using a custom template for the album and/or the basic thumbnails/slideshow display types?
Thanks!
