    Hi,

    The Problem:
The slideshow continually loads, but never displays the slideshow.

Where The Problem Can Be Seen:
    http://www.matttifftracing.com/2014-photos/nggallery/slideshow

Here is a screenshot of the error:
    http://prntscr.com/f9r0pc

    Desired Result:
The ability to see the slideshow using the NextGen plugin

What Has Been Tried So Far:
    1- Clearing cache
2- Disabling all plugins to test for conflicts (no issues)
3- Ensuring templates have “footer” called (referenced here)
4- Adding “filter” to functions.php (referenced here)

What is a puzzle to me:
When I switch the theme to TwentyTwelve, then the slideshow functions as expected. Is there something within that theme that the previous webmaster didn’t include in this child theme?

@seanmanion – Thanks for the great report of the issue you are seeing!!!

From your “Tried So Far” list, please remove the filter as referenced in item 4 as it does not appear to have corrected the issue as described but may cause unexpected issues elsewhere as it does affect our third-party compatibility code.

Given you have noted that moving to the “parent-theme” Twenty Twelve appears to resolve the issue points this to being something specific to the “child-theme”. It would be very rare for any template file to be creating the issue, especially if you have addressed any concerns related to your item 3 in the “Tried So Far” list. That being the case, I would look to any additional scripts that the child-theme is calling/adding especially given there is a reference to one not being found within the browser console as this could be creating a cascading affect stopping the necessary NextGEN Gallery JavaScript from being parsed that would complete the necessary actions to display the slideshow.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

    Hi Cais,

Would you happen to know a quick way to discover what difference there may be?
Would it be possible for you to provide a piece of code I could insert so this would work?

    Much Appreciated!

    Hi Cais,

I was wondering if you had any insight into my last question. I am still unable to locate the difference. Would it be possible for you to provide a piece of code I could insert so this would work?

    Much Appreciated,
    Sean

@seanmanion – As the issue appears to be within the child-theme I would recommend troubleshooting through it. As I have no information on the child-theme’s code I cannot say what or where any snippet could be inserted to suggest why it is breaking.

Although on further review, it could be a conflict within the inserted display and what settings you may be using there. It appears you are using an album display which in turn uses the Basic Thumbnails display type and the problem occurs when you switch to the Slideshow view (which is often due to a JavaScript issue creating a conflict); are you using a custom template for the album and/or the basic thumbnails/slideshow display types?

    Thanks!

    – Cais.
