We run WP 4.0 as well. The error comes up on the top of the plugin page when activated as described above:
“The plugin generated 2 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.”
We are not able to update products with this error and have to deactivate your plugin.
What else do you need from us?
Can we re install Product Enquiry for WooCommerce 3.1 in the meantime?

Thanks, I’ll wait until all bugs are fixed before re-activating.
Same error as Shewsterchris. I had to deactivate in order to update products.
