In reply to: Disappearing Widgets After Template Install – Tried Everything!Thank you for your suggestions.
I have done as you suggested, run the widget reset and replaced the includes and admin folders.
Little appears to have changed, though.
I am using a standard sidebar widget holder and a theme-created ‘top’ position widget. Strangely, they both retain the ‘text’ widget placed in them, which holds the Adsense code. Although the ‘top’ position is not displaying on the site. But when I add page, category and post widgets to the sidebar widget they disappear still. So a partial success. Any further suggestions much appreciated.

In reply to: Disappearing Widgets After Template Install – Tried Everything!try switching to the default theme (twentyten) and see if widgets are working correctly.
Just tried that – the widgets do not work for default theme either.
I deleted my theme again, leaving only twentyten, then applied widgets to all positions. They appeared on site, but had vanished again when I revisited widgets interface.

In reply to: Disappearing Widgets After Template Install – Tried Everything!I don’t have access to their forums, I got the theme from a developer.
I’ve added this theme to about 10 sites already, with no problem. So long as I followed the routine of deleting widgets first, then deactivating previous theme, deleting previous theme, adding this one, then adding widgets.
The problem has only occured because I forgot to delete the widgets at first step. I’ve tried deleting all themes, restoring twentyten and starting again but still the widgets disappear.

In reply to: SQL Database Import – Home Page is Fine, but 404 on All OthersThanks Anthony.
The Permalink structure was imported with the SQL database – yet I replaced it with the identical same structure and hit save and all of a sudden the site works!
I don’t quite understand it – but so long as it works, that’s fine.
Thanks very much.
Phil(Now then, how do I set this thread to ‘resolved’? – that would be a good thing to put in the forum rules!)

In reply to: WP Theme will not render in browser –No, I didn’t resolve it – I backed up the database and reinstalled WordPress. Sorry, I still don’t know what the problem was!
Although now I’ve reinstalled – I have further problems…

There was no sig in any of my posts, but there was a link to the site in question as a part of the troubleshooting process. I don’t mind that the link was removed – but it wasn’t a sig! (And I see nothing in the rules regarding that). But thanks for all help – moderation included.

In reply to: WP Theme will not render in browser –I have also noticed this –
I have a forum installed in a subdomain, under this domain name. The forum is also displaying the same problem – is it a coincidence, or is there a common file that would affect both the main domain WP installation AND the subdomain forum installation?

In reply to: WP Theme will not render in browser –hm, one is running wp 2.9 (not functioning) the other wp 2.86 (functioning) …
might this be the issue?
No, I don’t believe it is. The problem occured prior to the update – WordPress only became updated when I ran a repair. And I ran the repair because the template wasn’t displaying.

In reply to: WP Theme will not render in browser –Yes, I’ve checked css both in the Template editor, in the WordPress Admin area, and I’ve checked css through the cpanel file manager. In each case it looks exactly the same as the correctly functioning site.

In reply to: WP Theme will not render in browser –I’ve still not resolved this.
Any suggestions as to how I might troubleshoot it?Thanks.

In reply to: WP Theme will not render in browser –Thanks for your replies.
I have checked the style.css/style.php files on the problem site, but they are exactly the same as on the functioning site.
Just to be sure, I have now doen as suggested, and replaced the problem site style files with the functioning site files, yet still the problem occurs.
What you are saying sounds right – and when I follow your link I see that one shows a style sheet and the other doesn’t – but where is the malfunction occurring? It all looks fine under the hood!
