Well, usually I check which theme someone uses and then I test the CSS code modifications on my side. But you can try it out – go to the plugin settings-> “Advanced settings”-> click that “Enable custom CSS”-> and in the box add the following:

ul.related_post li{
padding: 20px !important;
}

Let me know if this changes anything and we will continue from there. It would help if you could at least make a screenshot of how the related posts look like now.
In the meantime I will test if I can make those images scale with the browser.

would you be so kind and give me a link to your blog, so that I can take a closer look? The thing is that with a custom field you choose the image for each post manually. And for our plugin to find the appropriate image automatically – it must be at least 151×151 (px) in size.

You can do that by going to plugin settings, click “Customize” and in that CSS box add padding: 10px 33px !important;:

.related_post_title {
}
ul.related_post {
padding: 10px 33px !important;
}
ul.related_post li {
}
ul.related_post li a {
}
ul.related_post li img {
}

Don’t forget to save the changes.

Hope this works and if you wish to have titles centered also, let me know.
