In reply to: [Responsive Menu - Create Mobile-Friendly Menu] Menu not showingHi webmixer,
Local installs are always hard to debug due to the fact that there is no way I can take a look at it.
The plug-in is automatically injected upon activation and no shortcodes are needed (or indeed available).
Have you already read the sticky post found below:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/menu-not-showing-4This containts the most common issues found and how to fix them.
Many thanks
Peter
Hi Daniel,
Apologies, I didn’t realise it was my new Argentian friend who posted that last message!
The design can be edited alot with the colour schemes to make it trendy/modern, check out my site, I think it is quite a good example of how it can be used. You don’t have to stick with the boring default grey 😉
The ability to inject custom HTML might not be a bad idea actually, however I wouldn’t allow JavaScript I’m afraid, I’ll take a look into that one for you, and maybe the use of shortcodes in this section!
If you could try to explain a little more about the button moving when the window shrinks or expands or if you are able to give me an example I’d be more than happy to look at this for you!
Always a pleasure to help Daniel and keep on providing suggestions!
Many thanks
Peter

In reply to: [Responsive Menu - Create Mobile-Friendly Menu] Menu hidden in cornerHey Julia,
Great that it is working for you now and glad it worked!!
The jumping motion you are talking about on page load would suggest that there is something in your site being loaded in or styled by JavaScript which is waiting for the page to load before applying its result.
Unfortunately, that is something you would have to look at with a developer or the theme author to see what this is and how they can stop it.
Many thanks
Peter
Hi Vik,
I have just looked at your site and can see the menu working perfectly.
However, the problem with the site not being responsive is down to the sites stylesheets not the plugin.
To hide the original menu you will need to put #access in the CSS of menu to hide option from the admin area.
However, as said previously you are using fixed width pixel values for all your container classes so they will not grow/shrink with the screen size as is what a responsive site should do.
Also, there doesn’t appear to be any use of media queries within your stylesheets either so unfortunately it doesn’t appear you actually have your site built responsively.
You will either need to get a developer to make your site responsive by updating the stylesheets/html accordingly or install a ready made responsive theme from the WordPress repository.
I hope this helps to point you in the right direction and if there is anything else I can help you with please don’t hesitate to ask.
Many thanks
Peter

In reply to: [Responsive Menu - Create Mobile-Friendly Menu] Menu hidden in cornerHi jburnke,
The issue is with the z-index values of the other elements around it.
Please change the z-index values to 9998 for the following IDs in your style.css file:
#top-header in style.css on line 178
#main-header in style.css on line 182This will fix the issue and bring the Responsive Menu to the front.
Many thanks
Peter
Hi Steve,
Thanks very much for downloading and using the plug-in.
I am always looking at new ideas and suggestions and ways to improve the plug-in, so could you please explain where you are finding this problematic and I will definitely look into this, any example sites you have built would be great so I can take a better look.
I would say though, that the plug-in isn’t actually designed to target mobile or tablet devices as such, but uses the current screen width to determine when to display the menu and when not to. Otherwise, it would’ve been called a “mobile menu” or “tablet menu” and that would be mis-leading.
The point of it being a “Responsive Menu” is that it is designed to fit with responsively designed sites that display user friendly content on whichever device is being used (desktop, laptop, mobile, tablet etc.).
I could make it target mobile/tablet devices specifically but that’s not actually the aim of the plug-in itself and I believe there are others out there that currently do this.
I hope the above helps to clarify a little on the purpose of this project, however as I said I am more than happy to take a look at the examples where it has been problematic for you and I will see if I can improve the targeting system a little.
Many thanks
Peter
Hi FixIt,
Thanks for downloading and using the plugin, much appreciated!
Also, thanks for the suggestions, I am always looking to improve the plug-in, however I would just like to clarify on a few however before I start working on the ones that are possible/deemed useful as I am confused slightly.
– What do you mean by “enhanced” text, html, css, javascript?
– What do you mean by “stats” and PHP as content. For security, I would never allow a user to add their own PHP/JavaScript inside my plug-in as the possibilities of attacks are endless.
– Do not display title is already an option (just leave it empty).
– Open URL in new window is possibly a good idea (however if its your own site is it needed?)
– Again, I wouldn’t let any custom PHP/JavaScript be added in any fields.
– The title and URL can be accessed already by custom CSS classes that you can setup in your theme.
– If you would like the option button on the left side, just set the right value to something like 98%, which gives the same effect as it being 2% from the left.Future releases
– Shortcodes have been talked about for awhile now, and is for the future, however it involves quite a lot of fundamental extra work on how the plug-in works so I can’t promise for the 2.0 release.
If you can clarify your suggestions slightly then I can definetely add them to the development list.
Many thanks
Peter
Hi vik999,
Thanks for downloading the plug-in and your support request.
Have you placed in the “CSS to hide” box the CSS for the menu you want to hide when the site becomes responsive?
Also, if you can please provide me with a link to your site then I can try to see what is going on exactly.
Many thanks
Peter

In reply to: [Responsive Menu - Create Mobile-Friendly Menu] Site won't stop loadingHi Slash,
Thanks for downloading and using the plug-in.
I must say that this is not something I have ever experienced before myself or from any other users and sounds extremely strange.
If you could please send me a link to your site and if possible email me WordPress logins/FTP access so I can take a further look at it for you that would be great. You can send it all to hello@peterfeatherstone.com if you would like.
Many thanks
Peter
