In reply to: [Product Attachment for WooCommerce] Export / Import?Hello again
Thank you very much for your response, and apologies – I should have been clearer. I know there is no export option in your plugin (& wouldn’t really expect one), but when I exported products via the native Woocommerce export function, the documents tab wasn’t in there as a meta column. Is that correct, or is there a way to include it?
Thanks again

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Where’s this basket flyout come from?Right, thanks. Since the live site contains a grand total of 5 items currently, and is there so my friends can evaluate & say what they do or don’t like, & I can try different things (preferably after testing on the offline one), I can be building a new site while that’s going on. I’m a little alarmed by ‘it is not recommended to put WordPress in a different directory unless you have a very good reason, and are an experienced and highly skilled WordPress developer‘, which most certainly excludes me, but I’ll sort something.
Thanks again for all your help

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Where’s this basket flyout come from?OK @lorro – if you’re getting hazy, I’m afraid I’m working blind! In that case I’ll take your advice & rebuild; I’m still waiting for the friends I’m doing the site for to come back with suggestions as to any changes they’d like to see, anyway.
I’m intrigued by your reference to backups & a resource. Ive Googled rebuilding sites & most articles seem to recommend a ground-up rebuild in a sub-directory, in which case I’m not sure why backups would be of use. Is there an approved method of doing this in the resource you mentioned? Otherwise there shouldn’t be too much to do; I’ve tried to keep notes (though not always!) as I went along.
Thank you again for taking the time to help – it is very much appreciated.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Where’s this basket flyout come from?Thank you for your continued assistance. I deactivated everything else – & there’s no change, I’m afraid.
If it’s of any use – & I expect you’ve already done this – the Inspect Element results are very different for the two sites: https://imgur.com/a/fooBA.
The remote site makes no mention of the widgets that the local site seems to use, though I don’t know why that would be; those widgets certainly aren’t ones that I’ve consciously added.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Where’s this basket flyout come from?Thank you, that’s very helpful, especially as I don’t have WP Super Cache installed on my local version.
However, I’ve deactivated it & not found any difference. I installed two cache-clearing plugins – still no joy. I’ve now got a support request in with my hosting company to see if they have any sort of chaching on their servers & if so how I can clear it. I’m using incognito here.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Where’s this basket flyout come from?Hi @lorro – sorry I haven’t done this before – it’s not supposed to be a publicly available site, but I’m getting beyond caring!

It look from my local install as though there should be a ‘No products in the basket’ message when it’s empty.
Thanks again

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Where’s this basket flyout come from?Hi – any more suggestions on this? I’ve now tried re-installing Storefront (activated Twenty Fifteen, deleted Storefront, reloaded it, activated it), and still no joy. Just to re-iterate, I want the basket flyout to appear, but am at a loss as to what might be preventing it.
Thanks

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Re-install layered nav widgetThank you @stuartduff, that is helpful. Copying all the files on my local install has given me those three widgets, but without the Category one I may well stick to the Themify plugin.
However, after ftp-ing the files up to my live site, I’m still missing the Filter by Product Rating widget, which doesn’t matter if I’m going to carry on using Themify, but is a puzzle nevertheless. I’ve checked the timestamp on the remote files & they’ve definitely been replaced; it’s also a shame as I was hoping a new set of files would cure my missing basket flyout problem (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wheres-this-basket-flyout-come-from/#post-9664008), & it hasn’t. I tried deactivating Woocommerce, & re-activating it.
Don’t suppose you have any idea why uploading a new set of files hasn’t done the trick, either with the widget or the flyout?
Thank you

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Re-install layered nav widgetAh . . . thank you both. Yes, I saw the Filter Products by Attribute widget & wondered why that was there since it wasn’t from any of the custom search plugins that I’d tried. Nevertheless, I gave thanks for making mods to Woocommerce files in a separate folder in a child theme, & re-copied all the source files back in, in case I really was missing anything, and found there still wasn’t a Filter Products by Category widget – nor can I find mention of one in the page https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-widgets/. I’d like to have both category and attribute filters available for users.
I can’t see that you can use categories in any of the other filters; I’ve already got Category as a menu item so users can start their filtering there if necessary, then move to attributes in the sidebar, but it’d be nice to have all the filtering in one area. At the moment I’m using Themify’s Product Filter (https://imgur.com/a/5C3N5) but I’d like to make sure I couldn’t use native Woocommerce widgets.
Thanks again

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Undefined message when creating CategoryI can confirm the ‘blank lines’ part of @magicalwonder’s post above. I had a functions.php in a child theme in which I’d put blank lines to separate the parts I’d added. Took them out & the ‘undefined’ error went away.
Thanks for sharing
Hi again – if that is the case (ie that having a username or email field is not enough to make the email one not required), is there any way to show that a field is required (eg red asterisk etc) on a registration form? Apologies if I’ve missed something, but I couldn’t see a setting for that on the form design.
Thanks
Hi – thanks very much for that.
I had got both username or email (displayed as just username) and email fields on the register form, but having the username/email one there doesn’t seem enough to stop the email being required. Is that right? I think I’ll just remove the email field, as that can be populated from another system.
Cheers

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Where’s this basket flyout come from?Grief, that was quick – thank you. Unfortunately it’s the other way around; the site with the issue is live – though only as a test; can I send you the address rather than putting it here?
I have in fact been using incognito in a separate browser window for each of them so that I don’t get logged in as an admin, but if I do log in as an admin it makes no difference.Pete

In reply to: [WooCommerce] Added to basket bannerHi
Excellent! Thanks for that – I’ve unticked that box, & now have the banner in both instances, which is what my test users said they wanted. Oddly enough, ticking the ‘redirect’ box did not result in redirecting, but since I didn’t want that anyway that’s OK.Having solved that so simply, could you perhaps see if you can come up with a similarly simple answer to https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wheres-this-basket-flyout-come-from/? Just to clarify, two sites that should be the same behave differently in that the basket flyout does not appear in one (https://imgur.com/nO4wEEv), but I can’t find any differences in setup that might account for it being blocked in the one on the right, where I’d like it appear as well.
Something else I’ve just noticed is that the basket total is displayed differently, again despite the Woocommerce/Settings being – as far as I can see – the same. Maybe that’ll point to what’s causing the problem? Thanks again
PeteHi – I found the best way round that (unless you actually want someone to be able to visit the login page when they’re already logged in) is to restrict the appearance of the Login link on the menu bar: https://imgur.com/a/3h1qZ
Hope that helps
Pete
