Okay, so the “A HREF” tag is supported. Sorry, I thought it might be more involved.
I forgot to mark this as resolved.
I’m happy to say that updating to PHP 5.3 solved it.
If you mention the required PHP version on the description page, it may help people with older sites in the future.
