I restored wp to the former state (old version of wp, old version of theme, old version of plugins) and problem still remained. I ran across this thread:

I am pretty sure I tried this at least once after rolling back site but I had updated jetpack to latest and gave it one last try. Deactivate all but jetpack, connect (surprise, no error message), reenable other plugins one at a time and test. All plugins reenabled and jetpack stats still work.

I am hesitant to mark this as resolved as it works but isn’t really resolved – things aren’t up to date. Seems like a house of cards where any little change could bring it down. I guess I will just ignore the reminders to update, at least for now…

Updates have caused me a lot of grief over various issues. Things break that aren’t easily restored. I would welcome any suggestions on how to deal with this in a better manner than just not updating.

I am using the e-commerce shopping cart ver 3.8.8.5. Gold cart for e-commerce ver 2.9.7. All from getshopped.org. USPS shipping rate lookup is included and not a separate plugin.

You are right. I should and will post there. But am also hoping to find out if this is a specific to this plugin or a more general issue. Also what other options for shopping cart and shipping plug ins (and how easy it might be to convert) there are. So far I’m not impressed with getshopped.
