  • The old Share option is available again in this Plugin. 🙂 I have boldy gone for using “send”, “share” and “Like”. All options available both above the posts and under the post and actually everywhere possible. It have done wonders to the social boost my site needed. <3 I could even add more llike-buttons, for comments that is, would probably be a boost as well. 🙂 People like to click like. About 5% of my visitors seems to click “Like” at some page of my site and added up that makes my page a much better visibility at Facebook, even if it is shown only at Timelines.

    I have doubled my visitors from google this month that I have been without this plugin. It seems that I must have had some REALLY bad configurations then? But we need to keep in mind that I really make an effort to make good articles for the keyword I am after to catch and have been doing it very carefully this last month.

    MarcusVFV, if it post the default image you have chosen with any other post than the pure homepage link, you just have to wait that FB caches your Home Page’s main url again.

    Thanks Nick2012 and John Lamansky. 🙂 But I’ll go without the Plugin for a while in testing purpose. I actually have really good placing in most countries google right now and as I am not depending on google visitors it should be interesting too see how or if the visitor amount from google change compared to the whole visitor amount. 🙂

    I hope that this will be fixed in the next update for SEO Ultimate, so I can reinstall this awesome help. I first installed for just one small purpose, but in the end I was using like 60% of the features.

    Me ending up deleting the plugin was a sad solution, but my Facebook users are like Family to me, they deserve the best. It will be interesting to see if uninstalling it really hurts my SEO though. I manually do quite comprehensive work for SEO without the Plugin, so id there isn’rt a solution in six week, we’ll have an answer to if this Plugin REALLY does any good to SEO for ppl that are already publishing with SEO in mind.

    My site http://bubble-witch-saga.se/

    Make a NEW post and then post it to Facebook. The old posts are still cached on Facebook.

    My complaints about the “no thumbs” at all after unistalling SEO plugin seem to have corrected itself before I had the time to look into it, my site is all good now! WOOP, WOOP!

    (Another story though if I am gonna drop on google now… I have about the same amount of visitors from FB and Google so it would be essential to keep both places in shape)

    I ended up removing it and now I am getting no thumbs at all, swell, ain’t it? 😛

    That is the issue, I am trying different versions of it as I write. Deactvating did help in that way that it didn’t post any thumbs at ALL. I haven’t tried complete uninstall yet.

    Version 7.5.3 (August 11, 2012) do not work and it goves me following error;

    Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, class ‘SU_MetaKeywords’ does not have a method ‘postmeta_help’ in /home/peetra/public_html/bubble-witch-saga.se/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 170

    Thank you for writing it here, it feels nice that somebody else is having this very same issue getting only the Black preview image at Facebook. They are such UGLY!

    I have the same problem, it might be an server/facebook combo issue or a plugin issue. Here is a list of my Plugins. Is any of them matching your Plugins, Nick2012? (I already tested to turn on/off the cache plugin, that didn’t seem to help)

    Akismet
    Google Translator
    Google XML Sitemaps
    Peetra’s Custom Made Editor Addons
    Really simple Facebook Twitter share buttons
    SEO Ultimate
    Simply Poll
    WP Super Cache
    WP Video Lightbox

    I also recently have had “PagePressApp.com Auto Wall Post” on my WP blog/FB Page, it was never working properly and when the black pic-issue turned up about 4 days ago I turned the Auto Wall post off.

    As a temp fix I was thinking of replacing the black pic with something more proper for my site. But I haven’t yet found it to test this. Anybody knows where it is located? It is not the photo located at facebook that you posted, nick2012. The image is somewhere in our own directories, but WHERE?, it is the same pic used for generating previews when somebody have made a faulty URL in comment form’s and you can see it inside your Admin Panel when hoovering over a faulty url in a comment.

    Another temp fix that I have made for one important post (that should be shared/liked at least 100 times at Facebook) was that I made a static html-file before posting my blog post. I shared the link to the static file at Facebook myself making Facebook cache my desired Pic from that URL. I then deleted the static file and renamed my post’s url to what I already had sent to Facebook. Problem solved for that particular post at least.

    Facebook cache’s preview pics quite long, about 4 days I have noticed. So the workaround I made is fine for important posts, as the news value for me is over in 7 days anyway. But I wasn’t really signing up for making static html files manually when starting to use WordPress, LOLs, so my workaround isn’t desirable.

    I see sites where the Share button still works. Why does it works on some sites and not with this plugin.

    I just changed the settings in my plugin not to use the old share button. I now have a recommend and a Send option instead. I don’t like them, the share button was so much more simple and also gave better looking stuff at Facebook. Now Facebook takes only the header pic and use that one in the recommended or liked posts. I went to a great deal of effort to have nice pics for every different posts and well, now I most certainly will need something else, bit the changed settings works for now.

    My solution is not the smoothest one. I have no solution yet for those double line breaks made by the WYSIWYG and I made a button in the html-editor that gives me the desired & n b s p ; (it doesn’t show up properly in the forum, if written as it is supposed to) and just avoid fast preview s using the normal preview.

    I am well aware of the the recommendations not to kill kittens, but until now I had just a hunch of what way to go with plugins. It was just a few week ago that I learned how to correctly mingle with a theme.

    I have had one very unfortunate incident with a plugin that wasn’t up to date and our server almost got blacklisted for spamming when the plugin was abused by some evil unknown soul. After that WP project was over I happily hacked the core of the next WP-project, knowing that I at least don’t have to trust anybody else’s plugins. Now this is my fourth WP-installation I am working with and it is code wise the smallest, noone else is telling me hoe it should look like and what features there should be. So I thought that it would be great to do it right this time.

    I actually managed to create my own personal plugin for my editor and hope for more support in the future if I dare take on some heavier stuff.

    I am so happy Kailey that you pulled me towards the right direction giving me something that I actually understood how to use. Here is my personal output, I would love to hear what still can be made better whitin that!

    That was EXACTLY what I was looking for, I actually found the codex page earlier, but just didn’t understand the proper usage. The documentation maybe assumed that I knew stuff that I had no idea of earlier.

    Thank you very much. I so much appreciate knowing, that I am now using wordpress the way it is intended to be used. 🙂

    okey, I am not so patient, so this will be fine for now, I am subscribing to my topic though, so if you have an answer FOR THE CORRECT WAY TO WORK WITH THEMES within six months from now, it would probably help me or at least someone else. As it is for now, people might implement this way of modifying, because it works. And that is of course sad, but no one can at least say that I didn’t wrote that this is not the best way to handle it. 😉

    The result I can live with is a sidebar.php like this:

    I found something. 🙂 For now I added following to the default themes file sidebar.php
    but that seems like an emergency solution, I don’t think that is the right way to proceed. And I want it UP in the sidebar, not down.

    <!-- Peetra was here -->
    <aside id="archives" class="widget">
    <?php
    // taking control over the tags for increasing shown tags to 200
    if ( function_exists('wp_tag_cloud') ) :
    $tags = wp_tag_cloud('number=200');
                foreach($tags AS $tag)
    	    {
                    echo $tag;
                }
    ?>
    </aside>
    </div> <!-- This div was here, not Peetra's add -->
    <?php endif;?>
