Just got back to this after a break, and I am tearing my hair out! The archive control plugin does not have a choice for just displaying one post. U am not expert at php and beyond modifying existing code I am pretty much lost. I tried taking single.php and renaming it categories.php and it found it when I displayeda category, but still diaplayed all the posts rather than just one

Yes, on a page just like like the blog page, but with just that category’s listing of articles.
