    Hi Cloud,

123reg support are very good and they sorted my problem out very quickly.
    Raise a ticket with them.
I thought I had all my file permissions set correctly but they found one that wasn’t.

    regards

    Hi WPyogi,

I thought I would let you know that I have had a reply from 123reg support who are always very helpful with the following that has sorted my problem.

    Dear Paul,

Thank you for contacting 123-reg on the 20th December 2013.

I have set the file permissions for your hosting to 755 for folders and 644 for files. This should now allow you to view and upload images correctly within WordPress.

If we can be of any further help with regard to this or any other matter, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Kind Regards

    Adelina

    Hi WPyogi,

you will have to take it easy I am no WP genius!
I have filzilla and can do right click on index.php for file permissions is that what I am suppose to be checking and what should I expect.
The anti-hotlinking I am not sure about I have submitted a question to the hosts 123reg.co.uk.
This is a brand new site, I have just purchased a new domain name and hosting package exactly the same as a few other sites I have. There are not any plug ins yet I have only created two posts and uploaded four images that’s it.
I have two other sites both with 123reg both running 3.8 no problem.
    Hope you can help.

    regards

    Hi WPyogi,

I do apologise, maybe you can help as I am having the same problem as Neil.
Can you tell be why I have now built 7 WP sites all hosted at 123reg, all with the same theme, and two running WP3.8 with absolutely no problem begining to end but this new site I have just set up will not work.
I upload images to the media library and you can see that they have uploaded as the file name is there, along with file size and dimensions, but it is just a blank box.
Via FTP filzilla I have checked all my sites and the file attributes are all 644 and work ok. If I do change this to 666 or 777 on the new site it just drops out.

    can you help

    Paul

    Hi Neil,

I am having exactly the same problem.
Do you find that when you go into media library, then view an image then edit it, it then appears, proving that it has uploaded but just will not show.
If you insert any image from the library onto a post or page do you find it just displays a box the size the image should be.
I have gone to one of my other wordpress sites and copied the address of an image in that library and installed it into the new site and it views no problem pointing at an external library.
I have just updated one of my old sites to WP 3.8 it it works fine images upload and view no problem.

I still can’t get to the bottom of this.
    here is my website http://www.retnilkvids.co.uk.
I have built and used so many wordpress sites what is the matter with this one.
It just will not show images I have uploaded.
In media library you can see that a file has been uploaded with file name, file size, and dimensions but it will not show the image!!!
As I said before if you go to edit the image in the media library it will appear, you can make adjustments to it and save it but again the image will not show.
When you install the image in a post or page it will not show on the page, only a blank thumb nail the size the image should be.
