Same here!
Lots of spam sign-ups every day. I had to disable the plugin because of this.
On one of my client site I am using Mailchimp for WordPress which is integrated with an amazing antispam plugin called WP Bruiser. It’s the only plugin that was capable to completely stop all fake subscriptions without any captcha.
