I’ve just done the upgrade with a child theme and no problem.
What is the parent theme and just a thought can you see what are the permissions on the files in your child theme directory?
I am sorry I should have phrased it better, does the importing of twentyten mean I should use what they are using? I am not really concerned about which license but want to honour the spirit in which the original was created.
But as you say I’ll mark it as GPL 2!
