Something similar happened to me when I upgrade to PHP7. Could you double check that “Anyone can register” on your Settings > General is marked? Thats solved the issue to me.

The problem is that I am using UI Tabs (plugin), and they do not support that option unfortunately! 🙁
I should look up into the code how to reload the tab “manually”

It is happening the same to me! I guess there is a problem with the javascript and the container of the tab itself.
The problem is when your slides are not at the tab rendered at the first place, then your slides are in a hidden container and they are not loaded properly!
I don’t know still how to solve the problem!
