  • UPDATE! Well, we are never too old to learn something new.

And today, I just learned that I need to uninstall FrontPage extensions BEFORE I install WordPress. Otherwise, the 500 error problem.

Funny I didn’t have this problem on the other sites at this host. But, It’s working now like a charm.

Hope this helps someone else with the same problem.

I have this same exact problem. But I’m not doing anything differently than I’ve done for the last 30 WP installs.

Can you be more specific as to the…..

    AllowOverride FileInfo

Is this supposed to be in the .htaccess file?

And is this the EXACT command as typed above?

However, I still cannot figure how suddenly after doing this the same exact way, same server, that I should be getting this error problem.

    Thanks for the help, btw

I’m curious for a fix here.

I’ve been installing WordPress on the home page of many many sites and suddenly, after initial install on this last site… I am now getting Internal Server 500 errors. My error log in cpanel seems to point to .htaccess file. I am using the same .htaccess configuration I always use with no previous problems.

If I DELETE what WP has written to the .htaccess file, I can get into the site through WP home page just fine. But the minute I start setting up WPress and hit the save button, I get the darned 500 error again.

    Help!!
