In reply to: posting by email

    Hey Folks,

Won’t SOMEONE here write in the specifics in getting ‘Post to email” to Work!!!

I have NOT been able to get this to work for literally days now –

    Please give the solutions/details HERE
for God’s sake instead of just talking about the problems !!!

Thanks – let’s share your expertise.

WordPress take note_ HOW about an image sequence to fix this MAJOR problem with POSTING VIA EMAIL
. . . I have so much vested time right and STILL it is not functioning. It’s ludicrous.

How about- what files need to be edited etc.
    THE SPECIFICS.

    Hi Wilf 888,

I have been going looney tunes trying “post via email.”
What specifically did you do to make this all work? ( also what about “pop3.php” file?)

IT feels like rocket science to the nth degree in getting WordPresss to post via emial. . . . Also, it appears that this forum seems to just chat about “the problems,” but they don’t put the specific solutions in right here where it would help?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello All –

I am requesting help here as I am not an computer engineer OR a rocket scientist major!

I am having a bear of a time with WordPress so far as I cannot get it to “post via email.” PLEASE send help with your knowledge as I have exhausted all resources it seems.

I have my blog set up and running but it WILL NOT post via email.

It seems a bit confusing in setting up the OPTIONS / Writing “post to email” screen in WordPress:

    Ex:

    Mail Server:
    Port:110

(WHAT mail server do you use: incoming or outgoing?
AND – do I use the mail server from my standard ISP – or the one from the new “secret email” I am setting up? AND does it matter? Also – does the port number matter? Is Port 110 incoming or outgoing?)

    Login name:

(I am assuming this is the “secret login name” not my standard ISP login name, correct?)

    Password:

(I am assuming this is the “secret password name” not my standard ISP password, correct?)

Then I would need to set up a new email acct in Oultook to post via email to WordPress from my desktop – correct?

Also, do I need to edit or change the wp-mail.php file? what part specifically?

In my wp_config file the line :

define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value

should ‘localhost’ be changed to something like this: mysql29.seceretmailhostprovider.net

I’ve tried it both ways – no luck.

What are the options? I’ve read the WordPress doc re: cron jobs and the other bits of “techy speak” seem a bit out there .

Are there SIMPLE options to set up to check an email posted to the blog?

IT would be great if WordPress would put up an actual example with image sequences showing the whole setup procedure. You would get a lot more converts to the program, I guarantee.

I will REALLY APPRECIATE any help you can provide.

    Thanks for your time here,

    Rob Henrichon
