Thanks for the reply Froosh I’ve been struggling with this for weeks. I use that alternative wp-mail.php file right now on my main blog and it works great but with no luck just using it over the default in wp 1.3
I’m going to try commenting out the logio and see if it works
I’m pleased to say your advice fixed it and it now works like a champ! Thank you so much now I can upgrade my site over to the new wp and use the themes support which is really nice 🙂
I got curious and was able to get the other wp-mail working under wp 1.3 also so anybody out there who is curious it will work!
The logio calls have now been fixed in CVS, but wp-mail still requires patching.
Won’t SOMEONE here write in the specifics in getting ‘Post to email” to Work!!!
I have NOT been able to get this to work for literally days now –
Please give the solutions/details HERE
for God’s sake instead of just talking about the problems !!!
Thanks – let’s share your expertise.
WordPress take note_ HOW about an image sequence to fix this MAJOR problem with POSTING VIA EMAIL
. . . I have so much vested time right and STILL it is not functioning. It’s ludicrous.
How about- what files need to be edited etc.
i am with you ontrack100, i can’t get it to work, but i won’t demand for help 🙂
And what searches have you tried ?
What errors do you have ?
Could it be a client problem ?
What version of WP are you using ?
Do you want to send images in or just text ?
and Ontrack100 …. I didn’t see anything in your post but a list of demands. You may be frustrated, but politeness costs nothing. And you are insisting that others do this and that for you – this program and every bit of help here is FREE.

Log into the admin interface of your blog.
Scroll down to the “Writing by e-mail” section.
Fill in the details.
NOTE: you need to dedicate one entire email address to your blog-by-email process. You cannot use your regular email address.
Download and install my WP-Cron plugin. Activate
Send email to your blog-by-email address. Wait fifteen to twenty minutes. Check to see if the email was posted.
If you have problems, report back. Tell us exactly what you did, what happened when you did it, and what you thought should have happened. If you receive an error message, copy-and-paste it exactly into your reply.
Do not assume we will know what you are talking about. Use complete sentences, and be precise.
Remember, passion is the enemy of precision.
I am happy to verify that the plugin works.
Its perfect for those taht cannot seem to get their servers’ cron to work (like me)
What you get though is that in the beginning of the post,
there will be a:
And some formatting are off, but you wouldn’t hear me complaining about it.
I’m trying to post by e-mail – and when I run the wp-mail.php, it just says “There doesn’t seem to be any new mail.”
Now, I had this working last night, but wanted to move my WP to the root of my website. So I went through WS-FTP and deleted all of the WP files, ane then reinstalled WP (I’m asking myself “why?” right now)
Now I can post blogs through the manual way, of course, but the e-mail postings aren’t working. And I AM able to check the secret e-mail account via Outlook Xpress. I feel like I’m missing a file, or have forgotten to do something very basic.
Any thoughts, folks?
– thanks, Bill
If someby has time, can you please help me with this same problem? In my case, I have no problems setting up the cron job (my ISP’s Cpanel is quite simple). The problem is that, when I run the wp-mail.php (from a browser, for example), I get a database error.
Before you spend your valuable time helping me, I must tell you that this is a private project bog, which runs in a protected (.htaccess) directory. I say this because, even when I know NOTHING about MySQL, I suspect that the php script may not be able to write to the database (???) — then again, the script runs from INSIDE that protected directory…
By the way, I have the wp-content pointer pointing to a directory that is outside the protected directory, because I could not upload files otherwise…
The whole output looks like this:
Author = email_address_from_which_I_sent_the_message
Content-type: text/plain, boundary:
WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 's an email address I created to send posts via email. Let's see if it works..' at line 3]

So, summarizing: wp-mail “reads” the email without a problem, but it doesn’t seem to be able to post it… Any help will be EXTREMELY appreciated
