  • They’re totally separate. Even better, you can reuse your wordpress ID for your Akismet key. You can use that same key for all sites you host using WordPress.

    And for search engine purposes, it never hurts to have both at the same time: doubles the chance people will find your site using the keywords that match your articles.

    I get those too and don’t know what they’re for. I assume you’re moderating comments? Dashboard > Settings > General > Membership should be unchecked.

    You need to create the backup directory, and possibly change the permissions for the backup directory to something like 755 or 777. If you’re using cPanel, start File Manger and create the directory named backup-1a866 in the wp-content directory as advised. It will probably work. If it doesn’t, go into File Manager and click the 3 numbers next to that directory, then change to 755 or 777.

    I strongly recommend you use WP-DBManager, by the way. It also lets you restore from within WordPress, which no other plugin allows. The whole point of backing up is restoring in case of disaster, and most plugins require you learn phpmyadmin to do the restore.
