I used jetpack to import my followers and subscribers. I downloaded it from the plugins section when logged in the /wp-admin. I didn’t install any other plugins to send broadcast emails so I am assuming the jetpack plugin already took care of it since it worked last Thursday.
I don’t think it is a feature of the theme I am using. I am using the Bridge theme from here – https://themeforest.net/item/bridge-creative-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/7315054
