Thanks Will, sorry I forgot to update my post ( a usual pet hate on forums ).
I think my issue was one of not understanding Twitter and having an idea in my head that a wordpress twitter plugin was the only way foward.
Given that I’d seen the clients own twitter ‘feed’ with images, on her previous website, I revisited her Twitter account and created the code there – then copied it into a text/html widget and it works great.
