Actually, this had to do with the format of my graphic file (I hadn’t initially “saved it for the web”). I also got rid of the post title/comment/permalink references in my template files and that took care of the green chunk (IE is so weird).
Everything was moved to the root directory. Thanks!
Moshu, WordPress came with my hosting package so when it installed, it created an /nfblog folder and then I changed the URIs in the Options.
