Ok got it.
Under Settings > Permalinks > Common Settings I had to switch to Default.
For some reason it was set to Day and Name.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.
Nothing was coming of it until I updated WordPress via the dashboard. Now the last entry works, however allopaths to other entries and tags are wrong. Is this some new WordPress structure?
Is there any way to salvage this blog?
