In reply to: Blank white screen instead of wp-admin login or dashboardThanks for the reply. I restored to a backup from the day before and it still wouldn’t work! I went back and did it again – this time to a few weeks before – and thankfully it’s working.
I’m so glad for backups! Thanks for the advice – I appreciate it!

In reply to: Fatal error: Call to undefined function after WP updateHi again,
If there is any chance of getting some more help to fix this problem I would be so grateful.I tried all the options suggested with no joy.
The error message that I got is below. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Or alternatively. Is there any way that I can even manage the content on the page without access to admin in the meantime? Just to add some text. It really is important that I can do it soon.

In reply to: Fatal error: Call to undefined function after WP updateThank you so much for all the detailed advice. I’ve gone through it all now with no success.
I manually reset my plugins – to no effect. Still a blank screen on the admin end.
I renamed the theme folders (adult and child) and that also didn’t work. Stilla white screen on the backend, as well as a white screen on the front end (it seems the default theme did not kick in).
I tried renaming the htaccess file too – no joy unfortunately.
I accessed what I think are the error logs – my cpanel is laid out a bit differently to how godaddy explains – but I think it’s right! There was just one error in there for today – and it’s pasted below. Does it help?

In reply to: Fatal error: Call to undefined function after WP updateOk – I tried renaming the theme folder – just the parent, and then both. I still couldn’t access the backend admin area.
My site also didn’t force itself back to the default theme – I just got this error:
The parent theme is missing. Please install the “sparkling” parent theme.
The same when the child theme was missing.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Fatal error: Call to undefined function after WP updateAlso – I have a theme installed – Sparkling, but also have a child theme. Do I need to get rid of both?
Thanks.

In reply to: Fatal error: Call to undefined function after WP updateThanks.
If I do that and it is a problem with the theme – what then? I’m reluctant to screw up the front end of the site – it’s a particularly active time for people looking at this site – it’s for a conference.
Thanks!
