I am not sure if webp will eventually take over, but only time will tell. However, indeed it is a format that is becoming standard and that is what counts. We have plans of supporting it in future versions in the Adaptive Images plugin. We haven’t rushed to it because of the browser and PHP support so far. It is in the roadmap!

The Adaptive Images plugin does support resizing GIFs. However the resizing method comes from the commonly used PHP GD Image library. Its results are quite good and you are welcome to test them in your website.
One thing that is not supported is animated GIFs!
If you are looking for a solution to optimize your images before uploading them to WordPress, then I recommend something like TinyPNG.

Are you sure you checked after saving the settings? Perhaps did a hard browser refresh: Ctrl+F5 in Window or Cmd+R in Mac? Because I just checked your website again and your images seem to be loading as expected by the Adaptive Images plugin!

I think that the issue is indeed related to the Adaptive Images plugin. Probably due to the latest update in combination with the fact that your WordPress installation lies in a subdirectory.
Could you try and save the Adaptive Images plugin settings once again and tell me if the problem is fixed?

For the record, the issue had to do with some rules that the Page Speed Ninja plugin added to the
/wp-content/.htaccesscreated. These rules somehow caused image requests to bypass the root.htaccessrules of the Adaptive Images plugin. Once they were removed everything worked fine.Cheers,

Usually it is the general server setup that we need to check for issues like that, not the other plugins. Things like “are you using NginX?” or “are you using a CDN?”. These are the harder puzzles to solve when it comes to image delivery.
So, could you please first send me the results of the Print debug and Print diagnostics buttons in the plugin settings page so I can take a look at your setup? You may remove any sensitive information from it first if you want.
If it is possible for you to share the url of your website, then this could help debugging a lot!

Indeed the Adaptive Images holds a different philosophy on how to handle responsive image resolution altogether and, when one knows how to utilise it, it can perform great volume savings.
If you have trouble making it work -and there are cases where it might be difficult, or even technically impossible, to do so, ie with some CDN setups- feel free to post a ticket in the support forum explaining your setup and I ‘ll be glad to take a look.

Thank you for the heads up. Actually I think only the
SameSiteshould be necessary. Whether the cookie isSecuredepends on the website, although, of course, all websites should be served via SSL/HTTPS these days.I will make a note of this and fix it in a minor update shortly.

CDNs handle image requests themselves and in some cases they do it in a way that one cannot affect it. This is why our CDN support is experimental.
Generally if the CDN is using a different domain for the images then this is a case where our plugin cannot help at all. Apart from that, I am afraid that I cannot understand much without taking a look at the website itself. If you don’t feel like sharing it in public perhaps you could email it to us at info [at] nevma [dot] gr.
