You already have link to my sitemap. Just check the post type sitemap once. I guess the code change you suggested worked.
One query, How many total links this sitemap can hold? is there any limit?

I will still request you to look into the sorting issue, there are 2 points
- The sitemap looks more structured
- For Google Bot visits sitemap, it will be easy for them to pick up latest posts. If Crawers have budgets, then if every time they are visiting sitemap and if they are seeing old posts at the top (head of sitemap), they might not even go further to check rest of the links in sitemap. no one knows how exactly crawlers work, but if we know they are based on budget then defiantly it sounds logical that in the algorithm some logic might be there to skip rest of the links if everytime we see same old links at top of the sitemap to save the budget. Sorted links in sitemap might also help in noticing fresh content on website and getting them indexed on time. Please think over it

I have one more suggestion, thought I understand that it does not matter for Google if links in sitemap.xml are sorted on last updated date, but still it would be better if we display all the links in sorted order so that everytime we check the sitemap we can see latest post at top rather than searching for it. Please Think about it.

I guess many others might also be facing this issue with their websites but not yet noticed.

I think there is an issue. I have scheduled posts where one post is published once per day.
The published post do appear on the sitemap, but the sitemap update date does not change, it remains the old date when any post was manually published or updated. Due to this Google do not notice the changes in sitemap. In Google Search Tools the ‘Last Read’ date for sitemap remains the old date when any post was manually published or updated. I have to manually update any new post after every some other day like weekly to make sitemap look updated and noticed by google.
