Have you disabled the plugin and tried hitting the site over HTTP to ensure that the plugin is the culprit? If the plugin is the cause, check your Home/Site URL and make sure they do not contain HTTPS. Also check URL Filters in the WordPress HTTPS settings. Make sure there’s nothing in there that would cause all pages to be secure, such as ‘/’ on one line.
Delete the plugin from the dashboard and re-install the latest version. If that doesn’t work, I can take a look at it. There are no known bugs that would cause that.
Are you using version 3.2.1? I added a check specifically for admin-ajax.php in that version. I forgot to add that to the change log.

Did you set the SSL Port in the WordPress HTTPS Settings?
Have you checked your error logs when you get a white page on ‘Pages’? It sounds like you’re hitting PHP’s memory limit.
As for the disappearing box, I have no clue. Check the file permissions to make sure all the plugin files are readable by the web server. That’s all I can think of.
Waiting on feedback from a few other users with issues they are experiencing, so it depends. There is no harm in using the development version; it is always stable. You will be notified when the new version is available via the Dashboard and I generally post in topics where users are waiting on the new version.
