  • miom: When you say you’re trying to upgrade is that using an upgrade plugin or are you uploading the files onto the server? Let me know and I’ll see if I can figure out what is going on.

The number of ads output isn’t restricted currently. Although you can stop them being displayed on the front page through the “Show Ads” settings for each unit.

An ad counter/limiter will be in 3.0.12 (should be released this weekend at the latest).

    Thanks for the feedback.

Just to update you all, v3.0.11 is now stable for release.

    Fixed in 3.0.11, download here

Apologies for that a bit of dodgy code.

    Thanks for reporting.

Also, check you’re using the latest version 3.0.9. Thanks!

cryogenn: That’s a new network 🙂 I’ll add support in the next release. Currently I expect that it’s importing the ad code as HTML code (it’ll be listed under that on the Manage » Ad Units page?)

If it’s doing that correctly it shouldn’t matter whether you use Javascript or IFrame mode so don’t worry about that.

One thing I would check is to open up the Network Settings for the HTML Code set and make sure that all the view settings are set to “yes”. Then Save again.

There have been some bugs with the defaults not being set: I’m looking into at the moment.

As I say native support for AVN will be added in the next couple of releases 🙂 Thanks for the headsup.

Just a note: All the php4 bugs have been ironed out of the system and it’s now on full release. Latest version is now v3.0.8.

Thanks for the feedback and helping to get it stable!

cryogenn: Thanks for letting me know, much appreciated. If you spot anything else out of the ordinary or have any ideas for updates let me know!

Now it’s got through the upgrade period it’s time for features…

Update: I’ve dug out an php4 box and tested it. Sure enough I’d managed to hit about every single php4 vs. php5 compatibility bug going. It’s now hacked to pieces to make it work 🙂

    Tested and functional here… v3.0.7 🙂

    Thanks for the feedback.

boober: Can you try and download 3.0.5 (the versions are rattling past as I bugfix reports)? It may not solve the problem but it will make sure you’re looking at the same version as me.

I’m going to go through the code again… I really need to get myself a php4 testing environment! 🙁

Just to clear this up as I still get asked questions about it: the issue is completely resolved between me and Google and on reasonable terms. Be Nice was removed as requested and then replaced in a way which doesn’t violate the Google T&Cs (and I have this in writing).

The plugin continues to be developed and has just made the grand old age of v3.0. I’ve added referral links in the interface to try and generate revenue that way: if it makes equivalent to Be Nice (currently ~$30/mo) I’ll remove Be Nice again. I don’t need to be rich just comfortable 😉

Hope that clears it up for everyone who reads this thread 9 months in the future!

jancek: Weird stuff 🙂 Hope everything goes smoothly from here on. If you have any requests/ideas let me know…

…now to figure out where this bug is coming from 😉

(Just for future reference/peace of mind: there is now support for rolling-back to earlier versions of the ad dbs – it should now be impossible to lose ads!)

    Is this any use?

I think the problem is in the Network Settings: Just open it up and save the settings again. The reason the ads aren’t showing is that it hasn’t got the correct page/post view settings applied and it thinks it should be hiding them.

I’m going to test a bit before uploading but if you do the above it might help your situation?

tlongren: The <!–am#–> form was added as a shorthand (I’ll put a note that the old version still works).

I’ll have a check why the Edit Settings is needed to make things work. Thanks for figuring that out!

remblog: Download the latest version I think that problem was from an earlier release. It’s now 3.0.2 😉 Only just updated mind…

jancek: It’s OK you can continue to use <!–adsense#ad-1–> as well as <!–am#ad-1–> both will work.

Are the old ads listed in the Manage » Ad Units section?
