I had the same issue…
When u find a .htacces that works for u.. make sure to place that code outside the tags
# BEGIN WordPress
# END WordPress
WordPress will rewrite all inside this tags..
Mine worked like this

RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /it/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /it/index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPress
