Maybe true for the ‘blank’ page / tab part but how about nofollow? That’s an important issue that we cannot control from the editor. Since your plugin bypasses any sort of other plugins which alter the existing links and adds nofollow to them (in my case https://wordpress.org/plugins/nofollow-for-external-link/)
I wish I could have the very best of both in one with two basic features.
