Edit: after a bit more searching around, I think perhaps I <i>do</i> dump the old db, but then import that backup version into the new install.
Just goes to show, there’s a reason WP says backup your db as the first step in upgrading.

In reply to: upgraded 2.02 to 2.04, upgrade.php doesn’t loadPerhaps I’ll try a new install – I’ve backed up the database and htaccess, and I was about to switch to a new theme anyway to it doesn’t matter so much if I lose modified files in my old theme.
Wonder if I can remember how to do this… Shall go and look at installation instructions.

Using Dreamweaver – I can’t find an option to put files as text (or any other format). Am putting the files up on the server again just in case.
