I apologize, but I solved my problem. I had an additional lightbox plugin that was affecting how this worked, and I deleted it without realizing that it was what was missing.

I deleted the slideshows and reloaded, it is working halfwaynow, there isn’t a white “lightbox” around the pop up images and there is no way to navigate through them like before. Something is awry, and I am not sure what.
nevermind – i figured it out, I had changed the padding and it was throwing it off. thanks anyway!
