Thank you for taking the time to reply to my odd issue.

Indeed, a plugin conflict was the root cause for this one and other issues I had with my site.
It turned out all issues are gone since I deactivated “Germanized für WooCommerce“. Not even sure why I installed it in the first place…

Anyways, order conformation and email is working fine now.
