Madela & Marcus, here is a link to the new issue. I opened it 3 months ago but did not receive a reply. Maybe no one saw it. I posted a follow up today.
Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Plugin: Events Manager] Enable Location Name Search for Guest Default UserUpdate 06/04/2012 –For some time now I have been unable to get the Events Manager Location search/ auto complete working on my site for Guest users.
The only time it works is when I am logged into the site as admin.
Currently the Guest user is assigned to the admin role and it is still not working.
This is a brand new WordPress installation and I have disabled all other plugins. I have also tried using different themes.
Here is a link to my site. There is another person (Madela) who is having the same issue.
Madela, did you ever get the location search to work? If so what was the resolution? I opened this issue originally and have not been able to get it working unless I am logged in as admin.
Marcus, I will open a new issue as well. Thanks,
Hi Marcus, I installed the dev version and still the same issue. I’ve tried changing themes. What theme is your demo? Also, maybe it has to do with my WP installation? Should I reinstall WP and start over? The odd thing is that the Name search works when I am logged in to the admin panel. But not when I am logged out. But I have guest user enabled and set to admin, so I don’t understand why it would not work the same when I am logged out. Thanks.
yes Marcus, the location name search appears to be working in your demo. do you have another suggestion for me to try?
I’d really like to get this working on my site. Seems to have all the features I need.
thanks,
MissLivvyPPNWA – Did you ever resolve your issue. I realize now I am having the same or similar problems with Guest Users. Problem #1 is that the Name search feature does not work to search for an existing location. The second problem is that when the Guest User enters a brand new event and location, I get “Unauthorized Access” after submitting the new event + location. However, when I log in as admin I do see the new location as Pending, but the event does not appear in the calendar after approving the new location. I can’t see anything wrong with my settings. This is what I have:
Allow anonymous submissions = Yes
Guest Default User = admin (yes, admin, just trying to get this to work)
in my Users settings, admin is set to the Administrator role
Everything is checked for administrator under User capabilitiesHere is my page:
http://www.thedancefinder.com/submit-a-dance/Also, I am on the latest version of WP and have no other plugins activated. Also, I have the same issue after switching themes. I am on the verge of giving up.
Thanks for any response.
MissLivvyHi Debsch, I am just starting my site. I don’t have any other plugins right now. I tried also changing themes. Same issue. Seems to be a permissions problem. The Location name search works great when I am logged in as admin, but not otherwise, even if I set guest user to admin. … hmmm.
Hi Marcus, I currently have the guest user set to have the same rights as admin and still the same issue. Also tried setting the guest user to admin itself. Also have tried changing WP themes to see if that was the issue and no luck. Plase let me know if you have any other thoughts. Thanks very much!
debsh – does the Location name search feature work on your event submission form? On mine it does not, even though I have it enabled to search (vs. show a dropdown pick list of locations).
PPNWA – do you have a Guest User set up? You need to create am “Anonymous” subscriber, assign it a role, and then set that user as the Guest Default User. (below where you set the option to allow anonymous submissions). Have you done that?
Mine is working with the short code in a page.
http://www.thedancefinder.com/events/
However, in the Event Form page, I’d like to customize what it says. For example instead of “The event name. Example: Birthday party”, I’d like to have “The dance name. Example: Ballroom by the Bay”. Can I do this from the admin interface or do I need to go into the code?
Thanks,
Sorry, I should have said under the General > Event Submissions Forms tab. It’s a few sections below the General Options tab. Let me know if you see it.
PPNWA – it’s on the General Tab in the Event Submission Forms section. Scroll down to below Submission Message box.
PS I like your web site. Nice job!
Hi agaelonwl, I have installed the Free version and I don’t see a way to enable it so that a visitor to the blog can submit an event. It seems you have to set up users with roles and the users can then submit events. I’d like to have any visitor to the site be able to submit an event. Is that possible or am I missing it?
Thanks very much!
