Indeed it does look like the nuclear bomb option and only do it last resource.
In case you need a Plugin to export all of your website, here is one that I used for ages and that has always worked [Click Me] .
I can also advice you to use the “Inspect” Google Chrome Tool in a page to see if you can see the Error Log and understand it better. I have had errors where a non closed comment was giving me issues publishings pages, articles and adding images, so that might be something to look out for!
