Thanks for the info there Rad, I am effectively doing the opposite though…
Instead of moving the wordpress install from the root to it’s own directory I’m moving it from it’s own directory to the root.
Should that pose any additional problems or will the guide in that link still apply?

What would I need to do within WordPress to get it ready for the move?
Will it break all the media file URLs etc that refer to say: http://www.mickeyssite.com/beta/example.jpg
or would it somehow automatically revert to:
http://www.mickeyssite.com/example.jpg
Apologies, I’m so out of touch and just getting used to systems like WordPress.
