Good morning.

I gave up on trying to use the shortcode references in the WP text widget contained in the Home Page Widget Area and instead inserted Master Slider widgets in between text widgets to replicate the layout I had originally.

I still submit that WP v4.8 no longer supports Master Slider shortcode references in their text widget, however, my solution as described above circumvents the issue.
