    Hi Ian
I’m not sure what version of WP you are running but that looks like a solution for a very old version. I tried the latest version and the WYSIWYG plugin but neither were an improvement.
    Thanks for your help anyway.

    Hi Ian
Although I wasn’t fully aware of this, we do have this checked. You find it under Settings> Writing> Remote Publishing. I notice though that there is another checkbox to Enable the Atom Publishing protocol. I have now checked that for good measure and we will try it out.
If that works, I will post it on this thread.
I asked our hosting company if they could do anything but they said we should speak to Live Writer. A colleague has a site hosted by another company and has no problem. I suspect it may be to do with them.

    Hi
Interesting site and will be useful to many. My comment, for what it is worth. Due the the nature of the content, it is text heavy. I find the white text on black quite difficult to read and concentrate. Black on white would be much easier on the eye.

I have removed all plugins that are not in use. I am using an older version of the Arjuna theme on another site with WP 2.9.2 which works just fine. I’m therefore assuming that this is something to do with the newer version of Arjuna that is used on this site.

Thanks for your help anyway Roy.

Hi Roy. Yes, it does. Bit weird. I ghave hunted but can’t find the bit of code that does that.

Where do I find your widget Roy? Is it availablefor free use?

    Thanks for responding

    Hi Robert
Thanks for the response and aplologies for not picking up on it.

It was a month ago when I was struggling with this one. It was pretty weird but I did use it on a page (NOT post). We are using the category-posts plugin now and it is perfect.

    Thanks anyway for your efforts.

IE 8 and it is looking fine today. It was the 2 px gap that I was looking at as well.
    Looks nice. Congratulations

As one WP newbie to another, it look really good. Congratulations. You have a bit of an issue with the header image. The top portion on the left seems to be missing and it rea-appears where the menu bar starts.

    Good luck

Vertical scroll recent post http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/vertical-scroll-recent-post/ is superb, BUT, I have a problem. I am using with Page Block to put it into a page rrather than on the sidebar. Everything is fine except that it displays the relevant number of Posts below my page, which I do not want.

    Any ideas anybody

Category-posts is working like a dream.

Many thanks for your patience Michael

Oh! I’ll look again. I did spend some time on it but only succeeded in getting to work on th sidebar. I’ll try again. Thanks

That one only works on the sidebar. I have tried it and it is very good, but we didn’t really want the sidebar. I think we are going to try debugging the other one to see if we can get it working first. It does exactly what we want, or would do if it worked!

Various people will post information (in the form of Posts) under different Categories (or tags).
On a relevant page, we want to be able to see a summary of the relevant category of posts so that they can be easily accessed.
For example, Posts might be under the category of Parish Council OR Events OR Community Plan etc. On the Parish Council Page, we want to be able to see a list of the last say, 10 posts in chronilogical order so that users can find the one that is of interest. Likewise on the Evetns page, and so on. The viewers of these pages will not necessarily be interested in Posts from another CAtegory.
There are several widgets that seem to do this but we want to be able to display these lists on a Page and we don’t really want a sidebar on that page. If we did have a sidebar, we would want it to be different to the standard one and I’m assuming that that is not possible.
    I hope that makes sense.

BTW, this is the page http://www.osmington.info/wordpress/?page_id=553 and I have tried creating a new Category and attaching the posts to the new category. There are just three posts in the chosen category and as you can see, there are 3 entries.

Thanks for your efforts. For what it is worth, I tried this plugin because List Category Posts didn’t work either.
I don’t know whether it may be the Arjuna theme that is screwing things up.
What I have discovered is that if you select a Category with only one matching post, it works fine. If there is more than one post, it displays the correct number of entries but displays the name of the current page, date and editor instead of the Post title, date etc. so that you just get a list of the current page etc., over and over again.
If you select one of those entries, it just reloads the current page.
I will play around with your suggestions and if I can get anything to work, will let you know and set this thread to Resolved.
    Thanks again for your help.
