Hi Michael
I have been having similar problems with Live Writer. I discoverd that I had to go to my dashboard, click on settings, then enable XML RPC.
However, I have not been able to find where this particular function is.
Just thought that you’d like to know that you’re not alone in this problem! If you find out how to solve this please let me know.

Hi Ian
Although I wasn’t fully aware of this, we do have this checked. You find it under Settings> Writing> Remote Publishing. I notice though that there is another checkbox to Enable the Atom Publishing protocol. I have now checked that for good measure and we will try it out.
If that works, I will post it on this thread.
I asked our hosting company if they could do anything but they said we should speak to Live Writer. A colleague has a site hosted by another company and has no problem. I suspect it may be to do with them.
Watch this space!

Hi Micheal & Mikey1
When I took a look in my ” writer” settings I noticed that there was another “check box” that enabled Atom, as well as XML RPC. I now have them both checked, so I will see if this cures the problem!

Pon my soul,I do believe that I’ve sorted this one out! As you know,in desperation, we’ve been trying to escape from the “clunky” text editor that comes with the otherwise excellent WP blog platform.
Well, the solution was right under our noses all the time: try this. On your WP dashboard, go to “plugins”, and in the “search plugins” box, type “ckeditor”,then download it and hit “activate”.
This will remove the existing WP editor and replace it with the WordPress “cK editor”, which gives me far more functionality than I had with the WP default one.
Good luck
Ian
Hi Ian
I’m not sure what version of WP you are running but that looks like a solution for a very old version. I tried the latest version and the WYSIWYG plugin but neither were an improvement.
Thanks for your help anyway.
Michael
Hi Michael
My blog uses the latest 3.1.1 version of WordPress, and my theme is the twenty ten model.
