I am using the Secondary Title plugin by Kolja Nolte. Found my problem was in my settings there.

Considered dumping the theme for something simpler since I now have my layout decided, but first – whether for good or bad – I renamed my child theme directory (so I can look back at the changes I made, should I want something), reinstalled oceanwp child theme, re-imported the settings I’d exported the first time …. back in business.

Thank you for so kindly trying to help. Unfortunately the problem is not resolved.

Yes, the sidebar that has moved itself to the bottom has 3 widgets that are what I do intend to have in the sidebar.

The footer also has some widgets, set to display in a single full-width column.

They may look like the same things but they will not be. In the footer there will be a tag cloud of all tags used. In the sidebar there will be 15 top tags in a re-coded tag cloud. The two About sections will differ.

The screenshot you attached shows the footer code. My problem is with the sidebar.

If anyone has any ideas, I will be grateful!

I have long used Inspect Element tools as I’ve coded websites for over 20 years. But I have never written such a mess of stylesheets as OceanWP involves. Maybe all WP is such an over-coded, redundant mess, I don’t know, it’s new to me! Quite appalled at the number of stylesheets imported into a given page, like a single post. That does make it harder to see how to change the CSS. When I inspected the sidebar, I never could identify the margins that were aggravating me.
