In reply to: WPMU new install produces 404 postsI went to my permalinks and saved it again under network and it didn’t change anything. I also changed the permalinks on the sub-blog itself and no change.

In reply to: WPMU new install produces 404 postsThanks, Andrea. I always appreciate your help.
I am deleting it from the network side.
I don’t know how to resave permalinks. How do I do that?

In reply to: Authors can not post YouTube videoThis seems to be unrelated to other similar issues under WPMU. I have a blog with hundreds of authors and it’s hard to tell exactly what is causing the problem. The issue on WPMU installs seems to be related to only admins and editors being able to make embed codes or iframe codes stick, but authors get no love; embed code is stripped. But on a normal self-hosted install, this should not be a problem. I’m using a lot of plugins; very hard to isolate if it’s plugin related. I will be testing some other plugins.

In reply to: WPMU new install produces 404 postsFOLLOW-UP 3: I discovered that if I were to try and delete the site, I get a warning telling me I’ll never be able to use that URL again. That’s weird because I should be free to delete and re-add sites when I want. Is there really no way to avoid the trap? I was using 3.1 before upgrading to 3.2 hoping that 3.2 might fix the problem. I guess I made the goof without a warning on 3.1, but now that I’m on 3.2, I see there is a warning.

In reply to: htaccess redirects not workingI did change the path to test it out and it didn’t work. There is something else going on there.
I don’t know if I need them there as I think there were put there by my plugins.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Just won't work. After reading this part, maybe I didn’t do what is intended. Could you provide some examples? If I’m updating my nameserver info with GoDaddy, I can’t point to an IP address because it says it’s not a top level domain. Here’s the text:
Step 4: Mapping the Domain
There’s a bit of a prerequisite here before you do this. When you buy a new domain, you will need to edit its DNS settings to actually point to your server IP or CNAME or whatever you do to make the domain connect to your server. For me, I just give it a new A record with my server IP in it. Easy.Update: Okay, so there may be more to it than just that, depending on your host. Every host is different, and you’ll have to talk to your host to make them able to point the domain name at your existing site. How to do this varies from host to host, but the important thing is that when you visit your new domain (before you do this!) then you want it to go to your main site, as is.

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Just won't work.I forgot that I followed those instructions, too, now that I see them. I’m hosted with sonic.net. Is there some way to troubleshoot the problem?

In reply to: [WordPress MU Domain Mapping] Just won't work.Andrea, thanks for asking. I’m not sure I know what you mean about parking it on my server. I followed all the instructions and it said nothing about parking the domain on the server or doing anything else. I’ve been using both the instructions from WPMUDEV.org and WordPress.org. What else do I need to do?
