In reply to: [WordPress Move] [Plugin: WordPress Move] fopen errorsNavigate to Settings > WordPress Move and set the Chunk Size setting under the File Backup Settings section, to 20 or something like that. If the problem persists, try setting it to 0, because for some strange reason, this particular setting work in the opposite way on some systems.

In reply to: WordPress Move killed both my sites cant log inThe documentation comes with the plugin, under the directory named
docs.Yes, you should install WordPress Move on both ends, then start the migration on the old one and finally complete the migration on the new one. What you are trying to do can be completely achieved using WordPress Move.

In reply to: [WordPress Move] [Plugin: WordPress Move] fopen errorsThe
backupdirectory (and its sub directories) under thewordpress-movedirectory needs to be writable by your web server as the warning suggests (Permission denied). The main part of backup files’ names are generated using the
time()function, so yes, it changes.FTP Password is only needed when you use the Migrate option on the Migration Assistant page.

In reply to: WordPress Move killed both my sites cant log inFirst of all, thank you Jan!
There is actually no need for reverting everything back. He clearly did not read the documentation and was not aware of what he was doing. I don’t blame him though, calling the developer “fool” or telling a plugin is “bad” is a lot easier than reading a page-long documentation.
As I said, he just needs to transfer all the files on mfmin.com to mattford.org. That’s all!

In reply to: WordPress Move killed both my sites cant log inThen, the only thing you should do is to transfer all the files under the directory assigned for mfmin.com on your VPS to the directory assigned for mattford.org.

In reply to: WordPress Move killed both my sites cant log inI can gladly help you, but you are being disrespectful just because you were not aware of what you were doing. The plugin has no problems whatsoever, and your issue is not actually a problem. You just need to point mattford.org to the server that mfmin.com is pointing to.

In reply to: [WordPress Move] [Plugin: WordPress Move] Error importing databaseLooks like the function that creates the database backup needs some serious attention.
Thanks for sharing your experience, it is indeed useful 🙂

In reply to: [WordPress Move] [Plugin: WordPress Move] Error importing databaseMost probably, that is the reason then. WordPress Move seems to be unable to back up the tables that plugins create. I will find the cause of this bug and fix it as soon as possible. Some other users seem to be experiencing the same problem as well.
Thanks for your contribution in finding the bug, much appreciated!

In reply to: [WordPress Move] [Plugin: WordPress Move] Changing the site name/page titleDo you mean the Site Title? If so, you can change it from the General Settings page which is under the Settings menu on the dashboard.
Thanks for your nice words, much appreciated!

In reply to: [WordPress Move] [Plugin: WordPress Move] Error importing databasegregweed, I’m really sorry for any inconvenience I caused but unfortunately I did not see this topic until now.
lnmo and gregweed, are you using any plugin that creates and uses its own database tables? If so, this might be related to the other bug that some people are reporting lately which I will hunt down and fix as soon as possible.
Once again, gregweed, I’m really sorry for that.
You seem to have a rather large installation. The JS file tree that WordPress Move uses is pretty much one of the best ones but it’s not great unfortunately. It’s not made for complex file trees and causes problems on some installations because of that. I’m currently working on a better JS file tree but it’s not ready to be released yet.
You will see a plain file list if you disable JavaScript but I cannot say it is handy either.
This one of the issues I’m currently working on and I’m afraid there is no workaround I can provide at the moment.
I’m really sorry about this, hope WordPress Move can provide a better experience to you.
Thanks for using WordPress Move!

In reply to: [WordPress Move] [Plugin: WordPress Move] MOVE unsuccessful…I said Googling “Pointing a domain” returns over 40 million results. You can see them here.
By saying Old Server or Old Account, I mean your hosting account where your Old Site is hosted. 99% of the time, users migrate from one server to another which is why I’m using that phrase. Even if you migrate from and to the same server, Old Server and New Server are still valid phrases, they simply happen to share the same IP address.
