seems to be working frontend but admin area all squares as in given images (links)

I just want to add this happens with everything, ratings plugins do not show stars only squares etc

Or am I missing what the more button does? if I click on the events category it shows small clips but without thumbnail. is the more JUST hiding the rest of text and SUPPOSED to show everything else?
