On looking back at my first post, I think the problem was a trailing slash – ie should be http://aaa.com not http://aaa.com/
Solved. As I said in the last post – it was indeed something very simple I just needed to put both the WordPress and the Site address in the same format of http://aaa.com even though it’s on a subdomain
This gets rid of all the above problems. I thought this was how I had set it up initially but maybe not. Apologies for wasting anyone’s brain space on such a basic issueMany thanks Cory – that was very helpful, and has largely solved the problem, with one exception.
I changed the WordPress Settings to make the WordPress or Home address http://main.com/aaa and the Site address http://aaa.com and run the permalinks update
This works fine, for general use, but if I logon as admin using http://aaa.com/wp-login.php, I get to the dashboard OK (showing as main.com/aaa/wp-admin/) but then, when I go to any page on the site, or just view a page after an edit it seems to have logged me out ie no dashboard line at the top of the screen– just shows the address as aaa.com/page_id=xI can still get back to the dashboard by using the back arrow,(so I guess I’m still logged in) and so I can work around it, but it’s just an odd irritation that I don’t understand, and that I don’t encounter on another WordPress site (one that is not on a subdomain incidentally)
Also I’ve just found that when I edit a page, I can update it OK but if I try to preview it I get an error message “Sorry, you are not allowed to preview drafts”.
Searching for a clue online, the suggestion seem to be that it’s mostly likely related to incorrect Home or Site addresses or to an .htaccess problem. The .htaccess content seems OK I’ve tried all sorts of address changes but all to no avail. I’ve also tried flushing the caches and using another browser, but nothing seems to help
Again any further advice would be appreciated. I’m sure it’s something very simple that I’ve overlooked

In reply to: [Zotpress] Zotpress not importing tagsThanks Katie – it may be something that’s unique to my data set as no-one else seems to have encountered it. It is odd that it always stalls at the 51st tag. I can work around the problem without too much difficulty and the rest of the program is still very useful
Thanks for all the effort you’ve made in trying to solve this problem so far. If you do come up with a solution it would be great !
