This procedure worked for me. Thanks for the instruction. I used Filezilla to SFTP into Godaddy hosted wordpress, drilled down to one-level above \wordfence directory & deleted it. Then, Install the Plugin and Activate…and Bob’s your uncle.
Fortunately, I had a Wordfence|Options export token in backup. Imported it and all my settings and rules were intact.
Not sure why Wordfence got honked up: maybe a plugin update gone bad, gone bad, whatcha gonna do?
But these steps put me back on the path to righteousness.
