I have been in touch with the designer of my template. I followed his instructions for removing the various bits of code to clear time, date and author. Because I do not appear to have “permission” to do this on WP it did not work.

I wrote back to him and he very kindly sent me a zip file with the template the way I would like to have it.

Now I am not sure how to get this zip file into my WP. Can you/would you give me specific instructions as to what steps I have to take to switch from the original template to the new one via this zip file.

    Many thanks.

Yes. I am quite happy with the template I have chosen. However, I would prefer not to show author, date or time on my posts. So far I have not been able to figure out how to do this. I’ve read a plethora of instructions for altering code – but alas – it’s so far above my level of understanding – and I fear, always will be.

I write for my own amusement. Every once in awhile someone trips over my musings and actually seems to enjoy reading what I write. I love that!

Mostly I get a kick out of creating my very own website – jus cuz. I’m sure you understand what I mean.

Thanks Ramzil. I have not changed any .php files and codes – because I haven’t figured out “how” to do that yet! I just checked the updated theme and actually the update was made after I started using the template, so that’s one thing I don’t have to figure out now;-)

I am still trying to figure out how to change the template coding and the instructions are totally daunting!

Yes, I just wasn’t sure what the correct way to do this was.

Do I go to the themes section and re-download it to my system and then just open it as though I am switching to a new theme?

When you say “customized” you are referring to my changing the actual template file right?

By the way, I am on WP via FTP. … if that makes a difference to your answer.

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand what you are saying – however – I notice at the bottom of all the HTML there is a note re altering the code. Can you tell me in just a few words what exactly I have to do so that when I change the template it will alter my blog. I’ve clicked on the codex word and … I really don’t understand what I’m reading.

Thanks in advance for your attention.

    <div class=”main_con_time”>by <?php the_author_link(); ?> <?php edit_post_link(‘[Edit]’); ?> <?php the_date(”) ?> <?php the_time(”) ?></div>

    I have switched to tarimon-notse 1.1 template.

Are the codes above the ones that I would delete if I wanted to delete dates and author on my posts?

I tried entering [contact-form] into my post and it doesn’t show up. Perhaps I am doing it incorrectly. Can you be REALLY specific.

    Many thanks.

    Thank you for the encouragement.

Permalinks? Hmmm? I’ll have to look into that. I don’t even know what they are … but if you think it’s something I should have … well, I want it!

I’ll also figure out how to leave a ‘contact’ spot.

As you can see, I did a flurry of “stuff” on this blog a long time ago and then my creative juices dried up. I just want to keep it … because I get a kick out of it and people actually do read my stuff every so often. I still haven’t figured out how to get rid of all the dates. I don’t need or want most of those dates.

I should try to learn how to work with the catagories and do the parent and children thing, or whatever the heck they call it.

    Thanks again.

🙂 I’m pretty sure I’ve got this clear in my aged head now.

    Thanks people!

I followed your instructions. It did not work. I’ve switched to another templaete and it appears to be working now. I’m http://mrsmuddled.com

I am soooo over my head in WordPress. I read all the endless help files and I just get a headache! I don’t get any smarter. I just get a headache. 🙁

    Hello.

    Thank you for your replies.

I think my problem may be with the template “Desk Mess” I chose.

I switched back to the default and the problem was no longer visible.

I’m just trying another template and everything appears normal. I can either scroll through my entire blog or I can open a specific post.

That syndication thing … I don’t really think that’s something I need. Shall I just revert the number to 0 or leave it at 25, which is the number of posts I’ve made?

Now, if I could just figure out how to get all the dates off all my posts.

There will be no one else writing on the blog – ever.

No one will be “registering” to my blog.

No one will be “subscribing” to the blog.

    Just me writing everything.

Yes, I understand comments is an entirely different subject.

So what do I write in that blank?

Ok. So now I’m totally confused.

I am the only person who will be writing anything on my blog, except for comments from any readers … which have to be okayed by me before publication. Have I got that right?

It “was” set at subscriber when I first saw the section and I’d changed it. I guess that is a default setting????
