Thanks for answering.

You did explain how to use the plugin, which is not what I asked and you missed the only question I asked:
‘Is there any chance we can get this functionality back?’

Also if you look at this screenshot a bit closer, you will see it does show an example on how to use those custom settings (this screenshot is from WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > add Instagram Feed )
