I have tried renaming the folder – the enter site disappears and only a blank screen is shown. I think this may have something to do with the fact that this was a manual install by the original (now AWOL) webmaster.
I will try the other suggestions in the Login_Trouble page……
Is there any way of copying the information via FTP then installing WordPress on my system and uploading the content? Since I can’t get into WordPress where the website is currently installed I can’t export the files like I would normally.

I’m not sure I understand the theme solution. twentyeleven is in the directory. The theme that’s currently being used is in a folder named default. Which folders do I rename?
I’ve renamed the plugins folder – no dice.
