Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Can't search or install pluginsWell I got a cable and tried that, but alas that didn’t work either. The fact that it is also happening to the other site I look after, which is on the same hosting plan, I think could be suggesting it could be their servers. It doesn’t happen on my partners wordpress site which is hosted with a different company.
Think we have exhausted enough avenues to throw it back at my hosting provider!
Thanks again for all you help.

In reply to: Can't search or install pluginsOk, thanks so much for all your help. I need to actually go out and buy one, so will do that and report back. Hope it is as simple as that!

In reply to: Can't search or install plugins5 or 6 things, but nothing different to what I have had for the last year (havent had this problem until the weekend). I upgraded all out kit in July with new Apple Airport Extreme router, plus we have 100mbps connection.
My Mac is the only one on the 5Ghz connection.
I don’t know much about this side of things, so I don’t mess with to much and nothing recently.

In reply to: Can't search or install pluginsYes.
I just check another wordpress website I manage that is on exactly the same server setup, seems that one is also having the same problem.
Perhaps you have identified the problem? What is it?

In reply to: Can't search or install pluginsHi lapsanders,
Did as you suggested, added a new theme, deleted Twenty Thirteen theme, then tried to install Twenty Thirteen, but went back to same issue I had before of “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.”
So I then uploaded it via the upload field in the Themes, all went fine. I was able to download one plugin, but then when I tried to download another I ended up with the same error message again.
Is this sounding like it has a lot to do with my server provider? Is it a memory issue?
I am using a business cloud shared hosting platform.

In reply to: Can't search or install pluginsHi Krishna,
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
– No plugins are activated
– Theme is already Twenty Thirteen theme
– Ran the manual upgrade, but the site is already up to date. This site is straight out of the box, I haven’t installed any plugins or themes yet, that is what I am trying to start.
Any thoughts? as mentioned, I hassled my hosting provider but they swear blind it isn’t them.
Thanks
Dan
